Dedicated to Fabiana Noro and the Coro Polifonico di Ruda.
Living close to a watercourse – whether it be a river, lake, or sea – makes one aware of the cultural strength it represents. As a Sicilian, this is something I know well and have always found to be a great source of inspiration. It is a great honor to write for the Coro Polifonico di Ruda and for Fabiana Noro, and from the very beginning – thanks to their extraordinary skill and versatility – I thought of the vast variety of sounds, words, languages, dialects, legends, places, and histories, trying to gather as many elements as possible to then synthesize, to find a “common thread.” The Isonzo River has always fascinated and attracted me like a true organism. And I have allowed myself to be guided by it – as well as by the uniqueness of a place like Gorizia and Nova Gorica – pairing fragments of popular texts with the intense and nostalgic poetic world of Srecko Kosovel, all the way to Pasolini.
