“Ho accettato con gioia l’invito di Enrico Fagone a scrivere un brano per il 10° Concorso Internazionale Bottesini per contrabbasso. Dietro a questo breve brano, intitolato “The Atlas Syndrome”, c’è un pensiero semplice: un’immagine e l’idea – sempre avventurosa – di un Capriccio non soltanto virtuosistico, ma soprattutto danzante, dove il mix di culture e linguaggi è, credo, la componente più evidente.
Ancora prima di scriverlo è arrivata questa piccola frase: The bassist finally gets to drop the world he's been carrying... and dance with it! “

“I gladly accepted Enrico Fagone’s invitation to write a piece for the 10th International Bottesini Competition for double bass. Behind this short piece, titled “The Atlas Syndrome”, lies a simple idea: an image and the ever-adventurous notion of a Capriccio that is not only virtuosic but above all dance-like, where the mix of cultures and languages is, I believe, the most evident component.
Even before writing it, this little sentence came to me: The bassist finally gets to drop the world he's been carrying... and dance with it!“
