Intended as a slow movement for a Cello Concerto not anymore surviving, this Adagio has been composed in 1902, when Respighi was barely 23 y.o. Originally scored for large orchestra, is now adapted for solo and Cello ensemble (6 parts) in order to be performed avoiding the accompaniment of a piano.
